Topic: $$$$$ at PyrateCon
I have a GREAT idea for spending $$ in New Orleans. . . . instead of using paper bills, go to the bank and convert all of your spending money into those gold $1 coins!

It be much more pyratey to throw down five gold coins for a drink than some wimpy paper with a dead guy on it.

All the change we give at our booth will be in the form of gold $1 coins!

I know. . .it's heavy. . . but make a cool sound in yer pouch!

Ahoy Sir Black Fox,

A grand idea...it does be soundin' like yer much wealthier - by weight in any event!

Is it true yer Guv'ment be mintin' shiny dollar coins like the crazy Canucks up 'ere? Loonie (like the guv'ment - though it be pictuirn' one o' them noisy spotted water birds) fer $1 and what should be a "Doubloon" be called a Toonie ($2) by those less inventive types (though it be sportin' a Polar Bear)

The U.S. has had the gold dollar coin minted since the demise of the Susan B. Anthony dollar years ago. It's still the size of a U.S. quarter but at least it's gold!

you can get them at your local bank. . . . I got $350 worth but the bank had to order them in. . . you can usually ask a teller for $50 at a time and they have them on hand.

Our change machine at work, in the break room with the vending machines, gives out those gold colored dollars for change of a $5 $10 or $20. I've been saving mine up for Rusty Scupper's Pirate Daze in Westport Washington this coming June. For more info on Pirate Daze go to: Rusty Scupper Pirates

Our $1 coins are just that a dollar coin, so they be just a buck. They also are made of a glorious material that truns brown with age, I think the term be brass. Yea, they not really be brass, because brass turns a prettier shade when it tarnishes. Beside yonder Indian Madien, they be putting presidents on them now. Oh, and the trivia point be it says "In God We Trust" on the edge of the coin. If ye have some of the first George Washingtons, the mint done screwed up and it doesn't say that on the edge (it be blank). If ye get one of those beauties, they be sellin fer about $500 a piece last I heard.
