Ahh... Pirate Daze. We had a fabulous time once again this year. I entered the Captain Jack Sparrow look-a-like contest again, didn't win anything. At least the winners this year all looked like captain Jack, unlike last year. I also entered the wench contest but didn't win anything in that one either. I was more interested in my niece Heather winning something in that contest. I made her dress for her, but I think she needed a little more boost in her bust. Oh well, maybe next year.
Before the trip to Westport I was asked to do a drawing for tickets to the Tall Ships Festival in Tacoma dressed as Jack. The drawing was sponsored by the City of Fife and held at the City Council meeting June 10th. The meeting was taped and shown on TV about 5 times during the week following the meeting. (I was on for a total of about 90 seconds during the broadcast.) Then they asked me if I would volunteer for a few hours at Fife's booth at the Tall Ships Festival dressed like Jack. I couldn't say no. (I need to get as much mileage out of this costume as possible.) I will be there from 3:00 till 6:00 on the 4th of July for "Have your picture taken with Captain Jack." The booth will be near the Lady Washington. Speaking of the Lady Washington, while I was in Westport we went on the battle cruise on that ship. It was so cool. We went out to sea (not far out) and fired a cannon (blanks) at the Hawaiian Chieftain. No, I wasn't dressed like Jack. Maybe next time. ;)
After the Captain Jack contest, we went to the local bar for drinks and dancing. This woman I work with, Gillian, and I went outside to get some fresh air. On the way out a woman was coming into the bar and stopped to ask us a question. She said, "My husband is passed out in the room and I want to have some fun. Are there any older men in there?" Then she looked at me and said, "Like YOU! You're not leaving are you?" I grabbed Gill and we went outside. There was this nice guy named Brian that was partying with us and he went outside with us too. When we got outside the front door there were two guys standing out there smoking. One guy looked at me and said, "Are you still f#cking Captain Morgan?" Without missing a beat Brian said, "No, he dumped Captain Morgan and is f#cking someone else now." We all laughed and Gill said, "He's a she. It's a woman." The man mumbled some cuss words, threw down his cigarette and left. Gill said, "I think he was going to kick your ass."
After a few minutes we went back in the bar and Gill and Brian left me at the table while they went out on the dance floor. At the table with me was Gill's daughter's friend, Josh, and Gill's husband, Cory. Then that woman that said, "Like YOU!" earlier came up to me and started flirting with me. She asked me what I was drinking and I told her, figuring that she would be able to tell that I was female by my voice, but she didn't seem to notice. But, it was kind of loud in there. Then she turned to Josh and said, "Your friend's kind of quiet. I think I'm embarrassing him." (The look on Josh's face. LOL) Every time she walked by me she would pull my hair or rub up against me. Then she came up to me again and said, "You know you're really hot in that outfit. You realize you're going to get lucky tonight don't you? Yeah, you know you're getting lucky tonight." I was thinking, "Oh God, I hope not!!" Then she walked around the other side of me and started talking to Cory. She said, "Your friend's really quiet. I think I'm embarrassing him." That's when Cory said, "You mean you're embarrassing HER." I thought "Uh oh, I'm in trouble now." But she was a good sport. She said, "Oh my GOD! You really had me fooled. That is such a good costume." Then she bought me a drink.
You guys should really go to Westport for Pirate Daze. We already have our room booked for next year. There are also several campgrounds if you'd rather camp out. Go to www.rustyscupperpirats.com and check it out. You can dress like a pirate or not. Either way, it's a lot of fun.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!
