About Me

I am Piranha, a pirate performer in the Los Angeles based pirate performance troup the Buccaneers of Tortuga www.buccaneersoftortuga.com . I am also co-owner and organizer/promoter of PyrateCon 2008 www.pyratecon.com. Pyratecon is the only pirate convention in the world! To my credit, I am the mother of a wonderful & talented son. I have a full time challenging career and I enjoy a full family life with my parents as they are now retired and living with me. I am a part-time actress with a plethora of creative hobbies including costume making, music, dancing, singing, sword fighting, culinary cuisine, interior design, 18th century weapons and historical films of all kinds. This profile is about me and this is some background on my charecter. Piranha escaped the hang mans noose at the Tyeburn on two occasions herself, for thievery and piracy. She is often seen wearing the broken knotted rope on her person as proof of her good fortune. She is fierce and deadly, springing from the sea with a flintlock in one hand and cutlass in the other. Her arsenal includes weapons to disarm, distract and disembowel anyone to cross her. However, her deadliest weapon would be her wicked teeth bearing smile which usually proves fatal to many a foolish lad with an eye fer the buxom wenches...No one knows yet what she be smiling about but she has shown herself to be a true "man-eating fish" like her namesake PIRANHA. The smiling Piranha is a formative foe as she looks harmless and sweet but that's what makes her especially deadly to anyone who crosses her. Do not underestimate her skills or her cunning. So take heed and be warned ... she knows when to take a bite, when to go fer yer jugular and when to rip ye apart! For Piranha, "Dying is a day worth living for so welcome to this side of Hell!"

PyrateCon parting thoughts ....

To all you wonderful pirates, doxies and wenches who attended PyrateCon'08,

It was all of you pirates, doxies and wenches.... and your being there that made PC08 the event that it was. The work I did was always a labor of love.

I gave close to a year of my life and time to ensure that all the all the pirates and wench patrons who travelled in from around the country and some from as far as Singapore and Scotland to be at PC08 would have the best time ever!

I know that the work that was put into PC08 was worth it from the hundreds of emails, pictures and videos that you so graciously are sending me of all you pirates and i hear how pleased you all were to be there.

I loved to see all yer happy pirate faces there so indeed PyrateCon was a success and the trip were well met!

I would like to thank my fellow workers and comrads at PyrateCon 08... The ones who did so much work before and during the event....without these folks there would have been no PyrateCon 08 at all....

...to the Pirate who was there, but missed by many .... Armand Bordeux de La Garde, the wonderous mouth and candor of Jewels Evermore, the genuine happy spirit of the gracious Stormy Seas, the fun loving Brea Tar Sweets, the humble and hard working John Marinus, the sexy and fun Franny L'Ollonais, the heart stopping Calico Bell Rackham, the riviting and ready Colby the Cobra, the never complaining Cutthroat Charles, the understanding and lovely Lady Vixen, the dam the torpedos Dagger, the omnipresent lucky charm Talderoy, to the gorgeous and always professional lady, and our Grand Marshall the Scarlett Harlot, the hard working and fun loving Captain Dave, the beautiful and true Helena, the now always dirty and fun to be dirty Stynky, the sexy texas vamp Sandra "Rev" for all her help with the vendors and the easy going and easy on the eyes Sher and the continueous help from the magnificent Krewe of the Wenches in NOLA. Thanks to the many special guest speakers like Christine and Michael Lampe, Arthur "Cascabel" Whittem and the illusive and mysterious Steve "the Black Fox" Kimball for his lectures and to the Pyrates Way Magazine which made PyrateCon a packaged and beautifully finished event, Cindy Warner McCool and the VA Blackbeards Crew, Kalen Hughes, Ben Gersh and New Orleans Rum Company, also the many folks who helped bring in the truck loads of props and gear (in garb with us all) even though they were not ground crew like Captain Huck and his lovliest lass Karen, the bands kept us all rockin thanks to the Rusty Cutlass, Skip Henderson and his crew and the Pirates Charles and their manager Scott Benton, the marvelous POTC guest stars Issac C. Singleton Jr. Vince Lozano and Treva Etienne and all the wonderful Pirate Master guests Nessa, Christa, Louy, Sean and Jon for being there and making my work easier and great fun even when the going got crazed by the end of Saturday night.

BRAVO TO YOU ALL! Applaud yourselves you deserve it!

Pirating is my creative escape so the work i did for PyrateCon was my love letter to all reminding us all that being a pirate or wench means being able to be young at heart, allowing us to spice up or add vigor and ad the creative spark many of us need in our mundane lives.

Meeting and making new friends, creating memories to last a lifetime is what we gain and we will live forever as pirate rock stars! Equal in every way! As pirates and wenches we are welcome everywhere we go by people of all ages some with joyful faces and some with confussed faces but all have larger than life smiles on their faces for us to drink in along with our healthy libations!

22 April, Dispatched to the Admiralty:

Your Lordships –

With compliments, HMS Stout respectfully wishes to report a successful mission in the town of New Orleans in the Americas. Responding to rumours of an invasion of Pyrates during the period of 17 April through 20 April, we encountered very large numbers of ruffians and wenches in the area known as the French Quarter. Questioned, however, they were found, for the greater part, to be hardworking seamen, honest merchants, salvage experts, and cargo transfer specialists, all faithful subjects of the Crown, as they told us. Most of those who claimed to be Pyrates were, in fact, simply in their cups, or former patients at Bedlam.

Indeed, there were some exceptions, notably a very large rogue known as Talderoy. He put up a bit of a struggle when placed under arrest, but two brave officers soon subdued the fellow. He was released, however, under the Birthday Rule; which, as your Lordships know, is similar to the Leniency Rule for Orphans.

Despite a brief obstruction of the roadway by a massing of these rowdy lads and lasses, and the caterwauling of a couple of bands of itinerant musicians, the King’s Peace was kept. No lives were lost, no buildings were burned; the town of New Orleans, currently bravely rebuilding after a devastating storm three years ago, was saved by the Royal Navy from any depredations by Pyrates.

HMS Stout will continue its mission of suppressing piracy while awaiting further orders.

On behalf of Captain Farley Wigglesworth,
Commanding HMS Stout,
I am your most obedient servant,
Lieut. John Ash

God Save the King.

Bein the honest trader that I be, it be only right that I be parusin around this har system looking fer boot…er business. Low and behold I dost see har that Piranha be challenging the King himself, tis true! He be offerin pardon’s and she be taken umbrage at the mere announcement. Why, I on the other hand would take such a kind and lovin offer from me Soverign, the King, in the spirit intended, provided I would have had such an occasion to be a warrantin such consideration. Which, I be sayin, I haven’t, and ye need witnesses to prove otherwise. We made sure thar be no witnesses…well…it never happened anyway. So, we be havin that so called unsullied record and be in the kindness and gracious consideration with the King and the Royal Navy. Why I’d never boast about what poltroon natterin neigh bobs that land lubbin Royal Navy be, fer it would be wrong and shameful fer anybody to be a sayin such a thing.

Now, Piranha, with ye all bein buccaneers and what not, wouldn’t it be the safe thing to do to be takin this kind offer? I be not so sure it becomin a second time. That thar Admiralty be a sticklier fer details and often becomes confused to the lawful status of buccaneers. T’would be best if ye and yer mates would clear the sea lanes and make sure that thar be no issue of any of yer past, and I be sure it was lawful, activities bein misconstrued by the Crown. That thar pardon offer done be a right fine way fer ye to clean up any misunderstandins that may be held by the Admiralty. Now, assuming ye be takin them up on thar kind offer, me and me crew would be willin to assist ye dispose of any items that might cause ye embarrassment when acceptin that fine offer of pardon. Shall we say at half the goin rate to ensure me poor old crew, that have widows and orphans from fallen fellows to help support, doncha know, will have some compensation fer helpin you out in this hour of need? It be bringin a tear to me eye that in some way poor old Greydog could help ye ensure a safe harbor at this har time of crisis. So, Lass do we have a deal?

May the wind be at yer back,

Martin “Greydog” Blackwheel

Forwarded by the Admiralty -
A Proclamation for Suppressing of Pirates
By the King, George R.

Whereas we have received Information, that several persons, subjects of Great Britain, have since the 24th Day of June, in the Year of Our Lord, 1715, committed divers Piracies and robberies upon the High Seas, in the West Indies, or adjoyning to our Plantations, which hath and may occasion great damage to the merchants of Great Britain, and others trading into those parts; and though we have appointed such a force as we judge sufficient for suppressing the said Pirates, yet the more effectually to put an end to the same, we have thought fit, by and with the advice of our Privy Council, to Issue this our Royal Proclamation; and we do hereby promise, and declare, that in the case any of the said Pirates, shall on or before the 17th of April, in the Year of our Lord 1717, surrender him or themselves, to one of our Principal Secretaries of State in Great Britain or Ireland, or to any Governor or Deputy Governor of any of our Plantations beyond the seas; every such Pirate and Pirates so surrendering him, or themselves, as aforesaid, shall have our gracious Pardon, of and for such, his or their piracy, or piracies, by him or them committed. And we do hereby strictly charge and command all our Admirals, Captains, and other Officers at Sea, and all our Governors and Commanders of any forts, castles, or other places in our Plantations, and all other our officers civil and military, to seize and take such of the Pirates, who shall refuse or neglect to surrender themselves accordingly.
