MY PIRATE SELF: I am Black Rory Harper, who was originally an Irish harper and musician. Because of the persecutions against harp players by the English, I took me harp and boarded a ship to bid a sad farewell to Eire. But me ship was captured by a roving band o' pirates and I was given the choice to join them or die. Well...ships always need musicians and it beats the Royal Navy, so there by the grace of God and me harpstrings go I.


MY MUNDANE SELF: I am Russell -- the world traveler, the Celtic harper, concertina-player, harmonica-player, ukelele-ist, pennywhistler and singer in a pirate band called New Providence, member of the Port Royal Privateers in California, the Celtic harper for the Druid group: Raven's Cry Grove (Ar n'Draiocht Fein - L.A. Chapter), the anthropology major, the professional clairvoyant/intuitive consulant, the Taurus on the cusp of Gemini, the INFP, the professional henna/mehndi body artist, the Goth/Industrial club-goer, among other things!

Although I'm not a sailor, I do enjoy being on boats and ships -- from large cruise ships to little sail boats. I seem to be drawn to the ocean. My mother was born by the sea (in Singapore), and I was born at Hoag Memorial in Newport Beach, California. My family also has a 2-story beach-front condominium in Port Hueneme.

I'm also the harper/bard for a neo-Druid grove and go by the name "RiverSong."
